HILDEGARD (1904-1979)
Throughout her life, Hildegard lived with chronic heart issues, yet remained spirited and joyful. My mother recalls childhood afternoons when her grandmother would pause mid-play to catch her breath, then return, smiling and full of warmth. This piece honours that quiet strength—the kind that doesn’t demand attention but leaves a lasting imprint.
The embroidered form represents her heart, gently held in place by fine red threads. Delicate yet steady, the threads symbolise both her physical fragility and the emotional strength she passed down through generations.
