Maria Laitenberger est une artiste et designer québécoise qui, après avoir vécu dix ans en
Nouvelle-Zélande, est revenue vivre et travailler au Québec. Elle détient une maîtrise en design graphique, obtenue avec distinction à Falmouth University, au Royaume-Uni, en 2026. Après un parcours professionnel en ingénierie jusqu’en 2022, elle se consacre désormais pleinement à sa pratique artistique. Cette expérience continue toutefois de nourrir son rapport à la matière et aux processus, tandis que sa pratique se déploie à l’intersection de l’art, de l’artisanat et du design.
Sa démarche explore le potentiel narratif de la fibre comme médium d’art contemporain, notamment
à travers la broderie à l’aiguille et au poinçon, où le geste répétitif et la matérialité deviennent des
vecteurs de mémoire, de transformation et de transmission.
Son travail a été présenté dans des expositions collectives au Québec et sera présenté à Rochester, aux États-Unis, à l’automne 2026.

Maria Laitenberger is a Quebec-based artist and designer who, after living in New Zealand for ten years, returned to Quebec, where she now lives and works. She holds a Master’s degree in Graphic Design, earned with distinction from Falmouth University in the United Kingdom in 2026. After a professional career in engineering until 2022, she now devotes herself fully to her artistic practice. Her engineering background continues to inform her relationship with materials and processes, while her practice unfolds at the intersection of art, craft and design.
Her practice explores the narrative potential of fiber as a medium for contemporary art, particularly through embroidery and punch needle, where repetitive gestures and materiality become vehicles for memory, transformation and transmission.
Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in Quebec and will be exhibited in Rochester, United States, in fall 2026.
