EDDA (1939-)

A rectangular shape encloses three soft circles, symbols of Edda’s children never fully let in. This piece reflects the emotional distance and quiet strength of my grandmother, Edda.

She lost her husband, the love of her life, in a tragic car accident when my mother was only two. I was told she was never quite the same after that, and it shaped much of the emotional reserve she carried. This work evokes the quiet resilience of a woman who endured profound loss and continued on. The soft stitched forms suggest both the walls built for protection and the gentle effort to reach across them.
